〈   Business Continuity
Business continuity at a company: theoretical underpinning

Chapter 1.3

What are everyone’s roles in a crisis?

In a crisis, if no preparation has been undertaken, everyone will try to do their best without any coordination and they may all end up doing the same things, while key tasks are left undone. Therefore, it is crucial to define who does what. A BCP must assign roles and tasks to each stakeholder and set up supervision and monitoring of operations.

In some cases, external support may be required. Experts can intervene and save valuable time in managing the crisis. These resources should therefore be identified in advance and a response protocol agreed with them.
